Cyd Charisse, RIP
By Wendy Roby
Cyd Charisse, all-round fox and Hollywood toe-tapper extraordinaire, died yesterday (17/6) at the grand old age of 86. Dubbed "Beautiful Dynamite", the star of Singing In The Rain and Brigadoon was a fabulously minxy dancer of whom it was once said, "When you dance with Cyd Charisse, you've been danced with." This rather sexily translates as "After Cyd, all other dancing is irrelevant", and given that it was Fred Astaire what said it, that's high praise indeed. As this YouTube whatsit shows, she was five feet six inches of D.A.N.C.E, and could work a big band MGM number while rocking a Louise Brooks bob. And with a fag in her hand. Now, that's what a lady looks like.
