Glastonbury 08: the best bits
We at the Lipster decided not to go to Glastonbury this year, favouring the iPlayer's gift of letting us watch what the BBC decided to film at our very own leisure (Jay-Z, Sunday morning, with breakfast in bed). But we hear it was a good 'un. Here are our favourite bits, from what we saw on telly and on the internet.
1. Amy Winehouse punched a fan. Or slapped him. Or ninja-sliced him. But it was all in self-defence - didn't anyone ever tell you never to grab a lady's beehive?
2. Jay-Z owned Noel Gallagher. Never has the Oasis bore seemed more old, out of touch and irrelevant - as Jay-Z hammered home by looping Noel's diss and walking on-stage to Wonderwall.
3. "It's a great honour to play for these angels born of the mud," Mr Cohen told his disciples, wowing the crowd at the Pyramid Stage with a tailored version of Hallelujah. Sadly, there's no BBC footage, as he isn't being filmed on any of his tour dates.
4. Wiley joined Hot Chip for an extra-special Wearing My Rolex, causing us casual internet followers to utter the first, "Hmm, I actually wouldn't mind being there for that."
5. Beth Ditto came out in support of Jay-Z (though she wasn't as supportive as Beyonce, who danced so hard in the wings that she nearly broke the stage, probably). "Seriously, I'm so fucking jealous [of you]," she told her assembled Gossip devotees. "Jay-Z: guilty of making this festival good!" Listening, Noel?
does anyone know
where i can find footage of hot chip with wiley? I'm struggling!!
