Lily Allen finishes second album

By Rebecca Nicholson

It's been a fair old while since Lily Allen released some music, but, despite what the tabloids would have you believe, it is what she's actually famous for. So hooray for news that album number two is finished.

"I’m pretty much sure it’s finished and I’ve got a meeting on Tuesday with the label," she told BBC's Newsbeat. "I’m really happy." But she's keeping her foot on the pedal, working with Klaxons Jamie Reynolds on a new track and a cover of Joe Jackson's Steppin' Out. She also appeared with Mark Ronson at Glastonbury for the first time at the weekend, which he claims he has been asking her to do for two years.

Lily used the interview to have a friendly poke at her record company, too, which no doubt Perez Hilton will pick up as a sign of ingratitude and scrawl "sluttyhobag" in white paint across her eyes.

"As much as I love them they’re just people who give you a loan. I’m not scared of my label."

You can hear clips and demos of the stuff she's been working on, including the racialist-bashing Guess Who Batman, over at MySpace.
