PLUMBING THE SHALLOWS OF NEW MUSIC

News at Lipster HQ is normally sassy and brassy, raising its eyebrow or offering a wink to its readers. Today's news is a little bit different.

Firstly, The Lipster is going on its summer holidays as of today. When it returns in a couple of weeks, all tanned, it will be transformed (a bit like Shirley Valentine after that romp with Tom Conti, although without the silly perm).

Secondly (just like Shirley Valentine, but with hair even sillier than her perm), I'm going on new adventures for good. Yes, lovely readers, this is au revoir. I've had a wonderful time editing The Lipster, but now am off to graze in other grassy pastures.

That's not to say I won't miss things here. I'm hugely proud of what me and the lovely Rebecca have achieved (and huge, huge thanks to her), and will be forever in debt to our wonderful writers (with special mentions to the fantastic Leonie Cooper, Wendy Roby, Susanna Forrest and Sylvia Patterson for working above and beyond the call of duty). More than anything, though, it's been lovely to receive glowing comments and e-mails from you, dear readers. Thank you so much, every one of you, for making this job a joy.

What happens now? You hold on tight for Lipster 2.0, and keep up with my new exciting projects – professional, personal and downright perverse – over at my blog. Don't be strangers: come and say hello, bring a gallon or three of Soave, and keep on believing.
