Burial overtakes Radiohead as Mercury favourite

Burial, dubstep's anonymous-but-still-up-for-a-bit-of-award-winning main chap, has now overtaken Radiohead as the 10/3 favourite for the Mercury Prize.

Thom Yorke and chums are 5/1, Elbow and Last Shadow Puppets are 6/1, Laura Marling and Robert Plant at 10/1, and coming up as the least likely winner of all is Adele with a miserable 16/1. Seems we're not the only ones a little perplexed by that one.

Despite the Independent's half-arsed outing of the mysterious producer (is he one William Bevan? Bad, bad Hot Chip for letting that one out), it's about as likely as a Roni Size number one smash that he'd show up to actually collect it. Though even that might be less excruciating than last year's Klaxons' victory gurn...
