He's been working on it for so long that he makes Portishead look prolific, but Dr Dre is talking possible release dates for this third album Detox - and it could be out by the end of this year. If he's got time, of course, after launching some hip-hop-friendly headphones.

Beats By Dr Dre - not actual beats, you understand, but these headphones - are out in the States on Friday. They will cost you $349.95 but they do have a nice shiny red bit on them, so that's OK.

When he's finished making people 'hear all the music' with these, he might knuckle down and finish Detox.

“I’m just now, over the last couple months, starting to feel that it’s going to be right and it’s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it,” he told USA Today. “In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.”

He also confirmed that Nas, Lil Wayne and Jay-Z will feature. We'd like to throw Santogold into the mix, what with her being the on-call duet girl for everyone these days. But if Chris Martin appears to try his hand at more hip-hop, we will do some crying.
