"I’m GoldieLocks, and I make music for musically educated people"

Hey, I’m GoldieLocks. I’m a 23 year old producer and vocalist from Croydon in South London. I never really planned on being a recording artist, it’s something I kinda fell into and at the moment I’m just riding it out.
I wish I could stress to people how hard it is to be an artist sometimes. I’m sure Rihanna and Beyonce work hard but at least they don’t have to worry about whether their single is radio friendly without compromising their sound, or endlessly self promoting themselves to try and get new fans. They have a team of about 50 million people who do that stuff for them.
Now I’m not a born performer, and I’d much rather hang around in the background (hence me wanting to be a producer) but I’m grateful that I’m being given a chance to actually do something I love and make a little bit of money from it. Anyway, point of all this rambling is that today I remembered why I love being an artist sometimes. Today me and the Hubby (yes, I am married, wow) got given VIP artist passes to Get Loaded in The Park festival. I wasn’t playing, just someone I met a while back ended up being the festival organiser. Benefits of these passes included free drinks and food for the whole day. Now to some artists, this wouldn’t have been anything, To me, that’s a lot! I appreciate shit like that. So me and hubby had fun in the sun, eating free Nandos and drinking cocktails. It’s things like this that make me appreciate what I have.
I also found one of my favourite artists wearing a T shirt I gave his band a while back. He wore it to perform and apparently on MTV USA. I guess all this networking and self promotion does pay off in small ways!
So, I’m not your average artist. I write blogs about how my label have fucked me around or the fact that 99% of music in the charts is utter shite. I often get compared to Lily Allen but I’d like to think I have more to my life than constant partying and changing hair colours.
I’m happy to admit when I make mistakes, when I’ve made a tune that I think is crap, and when I don’t know which direction to take my music. I change my opinions daily. I like to change my style every week so no-one knows which box to put me in.
That’s me, I’m GoldieLocks, and I make music for musically educated people. People who listen to System of a Down and The Bug within the same hour. People who aren’t scared to take off their shoes and dance on a chair if the song is sick.
If you like the sound of that, come say hi. I won’t bite.
Goldie x
