Listen To Our NFB*: Vivian Girls
Continuing our present theme of pointing you in the direction of exciting and brilliant new music, allow us to suggest a quick glace at NYC's Vivian Girls.
A list of what is good about them.
1.Their influences are impeccable: "The Wipers, Nirvana, Black Tambourine, The Shangri-Las". Yeah, totally Black Tambourine. (We had to Google them.)
2.They are "very now" what with being a bit shoegazy and Jesus & Mary Chain-ey except that they also sound like they might be quite fun too. This means they've been hyped to the hills on American blogs but they are emphatically "never trying to be trendy".
3.They've done backing vocals for Fucked Up. Brave.
4.They have brilliant names: Cassie Ramone, Kickball Katy and "Ali". (Although somebody obviously wasn't trying.)
5.They are coming to the UK for shows December and are releasing their debut album in October, which you can order here.
In fact, just listen to them. Go on. Here's Where Do You Run To. We love it.
*New Favourite Band. Possibly only to be used this once.
Enamored. Seriously. This is the sort of band you absolutely adore, but a part of you hates as it's exactly how your band 'would' have sounded had you actually ever got beyond the excited conversations in the pub.
brilliant stuff. we've got an interview with them soon so keep an eye out for that.
