Something We Like: Koushik
Look everyone, it is not completely grim outside. Which gives us an excuse to point you in the direction of one Koushik, who quite apart from doing all sorts of high-end re-twiddling for the likes of Madvillain, also has a knack for psych-folk and hip-hop influenced tuneage. It reminds us a bit of Panda Bear, and is very good indeed.
This one is called Lying in the Sun. Warning: there are no moving pictures, so you will have to make do with a nice photo of someone holding aloft a tambourine.
We have a copy of the album and were going to talk to him about daft things, but apparently he is a serious type who would prefer to talk about his obscuro influences and no doubt scarily massive record collection. Apparently he has masters degrees in both biostatistics and ethnomusicology, which perhaps explains why he would not want give us interior decoration tips for improving the ambience of one's studio. We forgive him, though, because his album is amazing.
You can buy it from the nice people at Rough Trade here.
