About Us
Once upon a time, Jude Rogers and Rebecca Nicholson dreamt about what it would be like to read a website full of pop culture content for women like them, a website that actually said something to them about their lives. It wasn't that they were entirely resistant to gossip, bright colours and shiny items occasionally, but it was more that they were fed up of (a) being patronised; (b) being belittled; (c) being told that clever content had to be dry and humourless; and (d) being given little to read except dross about horoscopes, boob jobs and shoes. Plus (e) they were bored stiffer than a porn star's penis. So they set about trying to do something about it.
The Lipster is the result of their efforts: a daily website full of news, music, film, TV, books, culture and trash, covered sassily and intelligently, for everyone to enjoy. They've got some well-known writers on board, from legendary pop writers Sylvia Patterson and Miranda Sawyer, to The Guardian's Laura Barton and Leonie Cooper, to the Erotic Review's Susanna Forrest. They're also encouraging young, budding writers to join their crusade – and they welcome men too. After all, this isn't a site just about women: it's merely a small step on the road to redressing the balance. And, boys and girls, we're all in this together.
Sign up to the site in the right-hand box for regular Lipster newsletters, and use the RSS feeds to get regular content. To contact Jude and Rebecca, sign up to the site and send them a message, or e-mail them individually at jude@thelipster.com or rebecca@thelipster.com.
