Barry Manilow has got a new album out next week. Hold the front page etc. It is called The Greatest Songs Of The Eighties, which he seems to think means he can include I Just Called To Say I Love You and Never Gonna Give You Up. :-s And yet he obviously just popped down the local wedding photographer's studio for the cover. NO. There is more to the 80s than this.

In some alternative reality, Sarah Palin is now US President (she currently drafting a plan to re-draw the world map so the United States looks like a big smiley face and Hawaii is shaped like a heart), Mutya was victor of Celebrity Big Brother (somewhere Keisha is crying into her soup) and URRRGGGGG Quimm won won the X Factor by a slim dribbling of votes. OK, none of these things happened. Instead URRRGGGGG has released this video for his single 28,000 Friends.

Kap Bambino have got a single out on Monday, but if you are challenged in the way of attention spans and 2:15 is far too much for one song of shouty electro-noise, then we have the solution. The whole album truncated into three minutes. If only all bands were so concise...

Kelly Clarkson has a new album out. It is called All I Ever Wanted. Clearly not included in that sentiment are the words "interesting artwork". The one thing it has going for it is the massive round bit in the middle, just begging for something else that is round, and yet more impressive than a yellow circle. Here are some suggestions.

Though he clearly did not get the memo that the future of synth-pop was lady-shaped, Frankmusik is allowed to come along for the ride, because 3 Little Words is lovely (what is it, Frankmusik week round here?). Here is a remix of it by Jocks that is very good, in an obliterating the original so it sounds like 6am on Sunday morning sort of way.

Trudy Bellinger is another of the lady pop promo directors speaking at this Saturday's Birds Eye View event, Music Loves Video. She's responsible for many of Girls Aloud's finest, including that one that the new trailer for Mistresses is very very similar to. And she kindly took some time to email us her thoughts on the art of getting the Sugababes into the right positions for a Comic Relief charity single clip.
