A Q&A With Kinga Burza, Pop Video Director/Paula Abdul Karaoke-er
Kinga Burza is the big cheese of the pop promo, having directed videos for Kate Nash, Katy Perry, La Roux, Ladyhawke, The Noisettes, Will Young, Calvin Harris and roughly 753 other acts. (Please note this is an estimate.) She's on the panel for this Saturday's Birds Eye View Music Loves Video event, and we had a little email chat with her yesterday. Warning: involves talk of video karaoke.

If This Week's Singles Were Social Networking Sites, What Would They Be?
Social networking, eh? Fancy. As your mum discovers Twitter and your great-grandma adds you on Facebook, now is a time to reflect on the important things, like whether Ladyhawke is more Twitter than Bebo...

A Q&A With Ali Taylor, Pop Video Director/Pixies Fan
As we previously mentioned, we're partnering with the quite bloody wonderful Birds Eye View film festival this year, and in particular their Music Loves Video event. Because music is what we do. This week we'll be profiling the very amazing female pop video directors who'll be speaking on the night, starting with Shitdisco and Yo Majesty director Ali Taylor, who talked to us via email this weekend.

Lady Gaga's Eh, Eh Video Spawns Walnut Whip Hair
Here is the new video for Lady GaGa's Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say). It's a bit like Just Dance except it's about dumping someone instead of getting pissed and has a cod-reggae beat. Yum. The video is a straightforward hanging-out-with-mates affair, but Priya spies its hidden meaning...

Free Download! Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning (Kim Fai Remix)
Every time we go shopping at a high street clothing chain (and we do not mean just one particular one - TopShop, H&M, wherever), Ladyhawke is playing on the radio. She obviously sets the right kind of mood for garment-based consumerism. Here is a free remix of Paris Is Burning. It is not a lot like the original:

No Free Download! And The Disappointment Of The Day
While we were transcribing our interview with Bullion this morning, we got an email ping from RCRDLBL - purveyors of free music. Now, RCRDLBL are brillo, but we got very excited when we saw this...

Bullion Does The Questionnaire & Explains Remixing To We Twits
After the jump, a very amusing interview thing with Bullion, what was responsible for the glorious J Dilla/Pet Sounds mash up Pet Sounds: In The Key Of Dee a while back. With a new EP called Young Heartache out next week, we gave him a bell to talk about having big feet, being respectful to the original when you do remixes and what sort of record is a good icebreaker when one travels to alien planets.

All Pop Lyrics Are About The Following Things
A couple of new singles floated into our ears this morning - the Pet Shop Boys' Love Etc (we like so far) and Pink's Please Don't Leave Me, which is about as good as you would imagine with a title like that. But both are touching on themes that are common to the charts these days - Pet Shop Boys on the superficial nature of aspiring to fame for fame's sake, and Pink on being a shit girlfriend. So we had a look at the Radio 1 playlist to see if the field of lyrical inspiration really was growing narrower by the day. Here is what we discovered.

Free Download! Of Montreal - An Eluardian Instance (Styrofoam Remix)
This Styrofoam remix of An Eluardian Instance pulls an anti-Ronson, turning its oompah horns into squelchy, M83-ish dream-pop. It is nice.

If This Week's Singles Were Oscars Outfits, What Would They Be?
Last night we stayed up till a ridonkulous and very naughty 6am to watch the Oscars ceremony. And quite apart from the delicious randomness of Stephanie Beacham at one point shouting 'M.I.A, M.I.A, M.I.A' during a discussion of who should win Best Song, it was a glorious evening of borrowed bling and, at least in our house, top notch white booze and Louise Brooke wigs. This of course gives us an excuse to hurl red carpet-based insults and plaudits to this week's singles. Which we have done, after the jump.

Buraka Som Sistema Do The Questionnaire & Are Repulsed By Our Egg Based Questioning
We sent some questions via email to Buraka, who have done a grand job of admitting that they are not always entirely focused on the job in hand when on stage, as well as coming up with a marvellous Fantasy Job Title. All of which you can read after the jump...

Kanye West Is Into The 80s In Case You Did Not Know
Here is the video for Kanye's new single Welcome To Heartbreak. It is WELL RETRO because it is all special effectsy, with special effects from back when that meant putting two of someone on a screen using computers the size of small towns. We decipher the hidden meanings behind the pixels...
